Flowers and Floral Art

Prizes: 1st £3, 2nd £2, 3rd £1 (Adults)

1st £1.50, 2nd £1, 3rd 50p (Children)

 

PLEASE NOTE

  • All entries must be setup in the marquee between 8.15am and 10.15am

  • All entries must be removed from the marquee between 5.00pm and 5.30pm

  • There is no limit to the number of entries in each class

  • Entries to the children’s classes must have the exhibitors name and age attached

 

Flowers

  1. Bowl of Flowers – grown in the exhibitors garden

  2. Vase of Sweet Peas (9 spikes in any colour)

  3. Mixes old fashioned Sweet Peas (7 spikes arranged loosely, pre-Spencer varieties)

  4. A vase of Herbaceous Phlox

  5. Bowl of roses

  6. Specimen rose

  7. Three Cactus Dahlias

  8. Three Decorative Dahlias

  9. Three Pom Pom Dahlias (blooms not exceeding 2” diameter)

  10. Three Specimen Potted Geraniums

  11. Your best cut flower

  12. Three Gladioli

  13. Five African Marigolds

  14. Hydrangeas and/or other Hardy Flowering Shrub (potted or cut)

  15. A vase of mixed garden foliage

  16. House plant with flowers

  17. House plant with foliage

  18. Flowers raised from seed (three kinds in one bowl)

  19. One cactus or succulent in a pot

  20. A Specimen Fuchsia (pot 25cm diameter or less)

  21. Hosta in a container (container maximum 40cm diameter)

 

Points will be awarded in each class as follows - 1st = 3 points, 2nd = 2 points, 3rd = 1 point

A Perpetual Challenge Cup (Hardings Shed and Garden Supplies) will be awarded to the exhibitor gaining most points in the Flower Section.

The Tom Davies Cup will be awarded to the Best Exhibit in Flower section

 

Open Floral Art

The maximum size of any exhibit in this class is 75cm wide and 75cm deep max. any height in all classes.  Exhibits will be viewed and judged from the front.

  1. "Perfect for Tea" an exhibit inspired by the traditions of afternoon tea

  2. "Crowning Glory" an exhibit using 3 wire coat hangers and 2 copper pan scourers

  3. "Exploring Alternatives" an exhibit excluding floral foam

  4. "Woodland Glade" an exhibit with foliage dominating

  5. "Goblet of Fire" an exhibit in the form of a goblet

 

Points will be awarded in each class as follows - 1st = 3 points, 2nd = 2 points, 3rd = 1 point

A Perpetual Challenge Cup presented by Mr D and Mrs M Jones in memory of the late Mr G Jones and Miss M E Gittens of Brook House, Guilsfield will be awarded to the exhibitor with the most points in the Floral Art classes.

 

 

Children’s Floral Art

  1. "An arrangment with shells" (age 7 years and under)

         28.   "Wizardry" an exhibit to include a wand (age 8-11 years)

  1. "Gardens Delight" an arrangement in a terracotta pot (age 12-16 years)

 

 

The Alan Osborne cup will be presented in his memory to the winner of class 29.

The Patricia Osborne cup will be presented in her memory to the winner of class 28.

The Joe Jones cup will be presented in his memory to the winner of class 27.
